This is the story of a young African American boy and an aging vaudevillian thrown together in circumstances beyond their control, Golden Leaf Ragtime Blues explores their unusual connection, as discovered through stories and music, illustrating how our basic needs and human emotions cut across the barriers of race, religion, and age.

An early draft ofGolden Leaf Ragtime Blues was developed by American Blues Theatre in Chicago in 1987 and the HBO new writers workshop in 1994 before being produced by Ensemble Theater in Cleveland in 2016.
The revised version of Golden Leaf Ragtime Blues was produced by Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, Massachusetts in 2022 and by American Blues Theater in Chicago in 2025.
